Product Description 48 inch Bat'leth: A bat'leth or "Sword of Honor" is a traditional Klingon sword in the famous Star Trek universe.
Klingon oral history holds that the first bat'leth was forged around 625 A.D. by Kahless who dropped a lock of his hair into the lava from the Kri'stak Volcano, then plunged the fiery lock into the lake of Lursor and twisted it to form a blade. After forging the weapon, he used it to defeat the tyrant Molor, and in doing so united the Klingon Homeworld. This first bat'leth was known as the "Sword of Kahless" and was stolen a thousand years ago by the invading Hur'q. It is said that Kahless actually was given the design of the Batleth in a dream.
In the real world, both the bat'leth and the Sword of Kahless were designed by Dan Curry, martial arts enthusiast and Visual Effects Producer at Paramount Studios.

Customer Reviews: Fake Bat'lethJuly 14, 2010 DeadSoul One look at this so called traditional Bat'leth and I can tell you it's not a traditional Bat'leth. A traditional Bat'leth has a complete curve handle. As seen in the link below.

I would never buy this thing, and I would not recommend anyone who's a trek fan buying this either.
Beam me up....Scotty.June 10, 2010 Paulo B. Tuble The klingon Bat'leth is a great addition to my man-wall along with my Highlander katana's,Both Kill Bill katana's "bride"& "Bill",Sparatan "300" sword, and assorted weapon that I have accumulated around the world.Like some of my collection they are battle ready,as for the Bat'leth I am not sure? if it is.Just like my katana's that I've tried in my collections.I've still yet to try out the Bat'leth.Great product and a deterent for would be trouble makers.KAPLA!
Careful if it is a gift!February 5, 2010 Jaq(Greenfield, MA United States) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
A Batleth is not something you buy because you 'need' it. There is a good chance that one would buy this because either they are a die-hard "trekkie" or they know someone who is. I bought this for someone as a birthday gift and he LOVED it! The only problem, it showed up in a box with a big picture of it on the outside with the words "Alien Sword" printed on the box. Surprise ruined. I wish I had known that ahead of time, because I would have had it shipped elsewhere and then wrapped it myself.
Just OKMarch 28, 2009 Darcon(Wenatchee, WA) 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
This Batleth is, at least close in shape and size to the originals on Star Trek. The leather wrap looks a feels good however I wouldnt count on it staying on for long if the "sword" was used for "play" for any length of time. The overall apearance is good from a distance but the surface is rough from sanding/grinding marks that werent smoothed out in the finish process. I bought it for display only thinking the finish would be better than just reasonable. At best, in my humble opinion its worth about half the selling price.

This is a real weapon. This Batleth is heavy, but easy to handle. I have 40 years of martial arts training and this is one of the most awsome weapons I have encountered. My training is in Wing Chun, Tae Kwon Do, Goju Ryu and Jeet Kune Do and I use a modified Chinese sword technique to practice with the Batleth. My next demo will feature this weapon. This is an unusual, but effective double end sword that I really like working with. It also looks great on the wall above the mantle.
